How to open a .pub file on iPhone or Android

Neither iPhone nor Android can open Microsoft Publisher (.pub) files on their own. Most apps that claim to are unreliable. The most dependable approach is to get a PDF.

The most reliable way

1. Send the .pub file to a computer or Chromebook. Email, Google Drive, iCloud Drive or OneDrive all work.
2. On the computer, open the PubToPDF converter and drop the file in.
3. Download the PDF, then send it back to your phone. PDFs open on every phone.

Can I convert on my phone?

You can try. The converter runs inside your browser and needs a fairly large amount of memory, so it may not start on older phones, and results on a phone can be slow. A tablet or computer is a much better choice.

Ask for a PDF

If someone emailed you the file, reply and ask them to save it as a PDF from Publisher. They can do that from File, then Save As, then PDF.
